Thirstier Mackenzie Scott's fifth album as Torres arrived in 2021 as what she called a "post-plague celebration," and it sounds like it, trading some of her earlier records' brooding tension for bigger hooks and brighter synth-rock energy. Recorded in Devon with longtime collaborator Rob Ellis, the album earned some of the best reviews of her career, praised for pairing raw, direct songwriting with a newly expansive sound. Singles "Don't Go Puttin' Wishes in My Head" and the title track show off her sharpest pop instincts yet, without losing the intensity that's defined her work since her 2013 debut.
