Cameron Crowe's 1992 romantic comedy Singles doubled as a love letter to Seattle, and this soundtrack bottled the city's rock scene just as the rest of the world started paying attention. Alice in Chains' "Would?" and Pearl Jam's "Breath" anchor a lineup that also pulls in Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, and Smashing Pumpkins, plus a left-field Led Zeppelin cover by the Lovemongers, a side project featuring Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson. Released months ahead of the film itself, it went double platinum and is still ranked among the defining documents of grunge's early-90s breakout. Received from Alliance Entertainment
