Sessa is São Paulo songwriter Sérgio Sayeg. His third album for Mexican Summer (2025) was written over the two years around the birth of his first child. He recorded it to tape at Cosmo, the studio he co-runs on the edge of the city. His hushed vocals, nylon-string guitar and chorus of women's voices are all still here, now joined by piano, synths, flute, wah guitar and lush strings. The result is late-night samba-jazz and crooked, Tropicália-tinged soul in the lineage of Erasmo Carlos, Tim Maia and Shuggie Otis. It's nine songs about how love rearranges a life, and an easy record to sink into on a slow evening. Received from Alliance Entertainment
