Unicorn Unicorn is the debut full-length from Rio Kosta, the Los Angeles duo of Mike Del Rio and Kosta Galanopoulos, who bonded instantly after Mike caught Kosta performing at a festival in 2019. Their sound braids soul, funk, and psychedelia with the Greek, Bahamian, Spanish, and Puerto Rican threads of their own backgrounds, landing somewhere near Khruangbin but with its own sun-warmed groove. Tracks like the funky "Follow the River" and the Latin-tinged "Volar Lejos" show off a band comfortable wandering across genres, while the spacey title cut, the first song they wrote together, sets the tone for the whole record.
