Japanese Breakfast - For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women) (Frosted Shadow Vinyl LP)

For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women) (Frosted Shadow Vinyl LP) Michelle Zauner's fourth album as Japanese Breakfast trades the technicolor exuberance of 2021's Jubilee for something moodier, recorded with producer Blake Mills at the storied Sound City Studios in Los Angeles. Its title, borrowed from a John Cheever story collection, sets the tone for indie-pop songs shaded with gothic melancholy and orchestral detail. Veteran drummer Jim Keltner and saxophonist Adam Schatz help flesh out the arrangements, while actor Jeff Bridges lends a surprising guest vocal on "Men in Bars." Reviewers met it with near-universal acclaim upon its spring 2025 release. Received from Secretly Distribution
